Unknown Worlds Entertainment posted a new video showing the Alien Harvester for Natural Selection 2.
Watch the vid, I kinda like it except the dying animation still needs polishing.
Things have gone a bit quiet but we’re still working real hard on this thing.
v1ctr0 has been working on a shortmovie and a band for the last weeks which takes up lots of time. The shortmovie is almost done though so after that he can focus on further development once again.
Pigo is doing a nice little map/mod for Warcraft 3. The game dynamics are almost done but the modelling has yet to be implemented.
We can almost taste the updated the Natural Selection 2 alpha. Most crew leaders have already pre-ordered (or like v1ctr0, won it in a contest) so we’re already playing around with the Spark Editor which is simply amazing!
So is the pre-alpha footage Unknown Worlds released for us some days ago. Check it out:
So far so good it would seem.
This footage really got us going again in developing the community again. We are making contacts with a lot of new cool people who want to help us out.
What can you expect from us?
A brand new designed and coded site which will blow away any competitors.
We launched another new blog called Pig-Tube. You’ll find tons of vids from youtube channels we adore. So we decided to collect those vids and share them on a blog. So if you’re bored and want to meet some new awesome youtube channels here’s the place to be.
The unkown worlds team has released two Natural Selection 2 screenshots. Along with them is a post explaining the progress and situation. I’ve copied the post from their site here (I didn’t write it!)
Hey everyone!
This Halloween marks the 7 years since the first public release of Natural Selection. Wow – that’s longer than the average marriage. This “marriage” has a lot more biting, clawing and struggling than most (or does it?).
As most of you know, we’ve been planning on releasing NS2 in some playable form this Fall. Back in May, we thought that if the game wasn’t done, at least it would be ready to play in an alpha or beta state at the very least. We wish we still thought that was true, but now we realize it isn’t happening.
However, before we tell you what we have and haven’t done, let us show you the first NS2 screenshots! Click the magnifying glass in the lower right after zooming for the high-res versions:
As some may have noticed our server isn’t online anymore. Due to some Visa problems and the upcoming release of Left 4 Dead 2. We decided to wait until Left 4 Dead 2 comes out. We will then change to Left 4 Dead 2 instead of regular Left 4 Dead.
Our server did amazingly well in rankings thanks to loyal PIG members using it. Shamefully it also scored low because of technical issues we had with some plugins. In the end we sure had our fun with the Left 4 Dead server but we also know we have to move on.
The P.I.G. community will soon welcome a new member to the family.
A group called ABZG has been working for months to gather a filming crew, actors and writers.
They will have their video blog hosted on pigamer.com.
What do they offer?
Sketch comedy
Parody
Pranks
Podcasts
Partner videos
A wide selection to match the taste of the people but most of all ABZG will form a quality site.
Many people have been complaining about youtube being too big and loaded with bad videos.
Web-shows have been formed which offer nothing but quality videos and this is exactly what ABZG will be.
Why will ABZG even work?
We have been analysing similiar web-shows to see their features and advantages.
By this we’ve learned an amazing amount of information and know how on this topic.
We can proudly announce that we just might be the amateur video group with the greatest start advantage ever to exist.
In case you were wondering you were the only who noticed there hasn’t been much news lately? Think again. I noticed and decided to give you guys at least a bit of a news update. We have been doing other things than drinking tea and eating biscuits.
Writer blog – El Pinguin Loco’s Daily Remember that writing contest a while ago? Well there was one really nice submission that was an instant winner. We want to congratulate El Pinguin Loco with his remarkable action short story. As he won our competition he receives a wordpress blog hosted at pigamer.com. Another prize which is bestowed upon him is advertising money. He will receive all the advertising revenue that his blog generates. EPL is a gamer himself mostly playing on his xbox 360. You can find him owning noobs in Halo 3 or any other game online.
But what is he up to at that blog? Well he’s doing a great job at writing interesting and funny posts at a regular time. Not only has he won this competition but he has won several others as well in his local area. We wish him the best of luck and are glad to have him on the team.
We fixed our Left 4 Dead server as it was not working at all. We reinstalled and changed the configuration a bit. Apart from that we also added some plugins.
Smoker cloud damage
We always wanted this to be in L4D standard. Some may like it some may not but we like it a lot. It gives a whole new tactic. When a survivor is lying on the floor bleeding to death just have the survivors shoot you when you are standing on top of him. Your cloud will prevent other players from saving him or dealing damage if they do.
Force mission changer
A new campaign will start after the previous is finished. It will be the same gamemode but a different campaign. No need to return to lobby. More gaming less lobby!.
Rage counter
This will count the amount of “rage” quits during a campaign. It’s just there for fun.
There will be more added tonight. The post will be updated then.
It’s finally here!
Ziiox has been working hard on this version. It has been a long way while encountering code and security issues. But all of them have been fixed. Here is the changelog for y’all:
Fixed volumebar
Feedback told us that a lot of people where having problems with the volumebar and their mouse getting stuck on it. This has now been resolved.
More styles We added more stations for you to quick-listen to.
More flexibility You can now tune in on your own radio stations. Just enter the IP (or address) + “;stream.nsv”
Example: http://xxxxxxxxxxx/;stream.nsv where the x’s are the IP.
Desktop We are still bug fixing the desktop version but it is in beta. We will soon release this too.
P.I.G is now also hosting the forum for a World of Warcraft guild called “Slay The Alliance”.
We don’t own the guild guild but they had +140 members in 3 days and we saw an interest in helping them.
Our members were mainly Natural Selection and Left 4 Dead players. But now we have +140 WoW gamers (for now) who are willing to join the family.
We hope this will help us create a universal community. A place for all games and gamers.
Be sure to visit the forum if you are a WoW player
A nice statistic I will share here: 8% of all visitors to our domain (and there are plenty) stay at our domain longer than 1 hour. Most likely these are radio listeners.
